Boil Water Notice in Aboyne

Scottish Water is asking residents of Aboyne in Aberdeenshire to boil all drinking water prior to consumption after Cryptosporidium was detected in the supply. The Boil Water Notice has been put in place on advice from health professionals at NHS Grampian. The detection of Cryptosporidium in a sample taken from the supply and analysed on 8 September followed a deterioration in water quality due to heavy rain that overwhelmed the water treatment works in Aboyne. This is the second boil water notice due to Cryptosporidium that Aboyne has suffered in less than a year. Investment is planned at the treatment works to improve its capability to remove Cryptosporidium and DWQR is pushing for this to take place without delay.
