Professor Huw Smith

It is with much regret that DWQR learned of the sad death of Professor Huw Smith on 25 October 2010. Professor Smith was a world-renown expert in parasitology and was Director of Service at the Scottish Parasite Diagnostic Laboratory based at Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow. DWQR had the immense pleasure of working closely with Huw over a number of years, and his contribution to our understanding of the presence of Cryptosporidium in Scottish drinking waters is outstanding. Huw was an inspirational scientist, and his friends and colleagues from the water industry and health professions will greatly miss him. Our thoughts are with his family.
