Scottish Water’s Laboratories Receive Clean Bill of Health
DWQR recently inspected Scottish Water’s two main laboratories at Edinburgh and Inverness. Nearly 350,000 tests are undertaken on samples of drinking water each year, and it is vital that these are collected and analysed to a high and consistent standard. DWQR regularly inspects Scottish Water’s sampling, transportation and analysis of water samples to ensure that these are done in compliance with the regulations. Having conducted a thorough inspection over 5 days, DWQR is delighted to report that both laboratories were operating to an extremely high standard. Matthew Bower, DWQR Operations Team Leader said " We were extremely impressed by the knowledge and attention to detail shown by Scottish Water’s analysts at both laboratories. Samplers, who are vital to the process and do a difficult job in all weathers and in remote locations were performing well and recording all the required information. We feel a little more attention to detail is needed to ensure adequate tracking of samples while they are being transported, and will return at a later date to ensure this is resolved". A summary of both audits will be published on the DWQR website in due course.
