New Regulator appointed

Sue Petch has been appointed as the new DWQR and starts work on the 4th October. Sue is a chemist by profession has worked for Northumbrian Water for 18 years in a number of different roles including Asset Strategy Manager Water for three years and Water Quality Manager for 7 years.

Speaking about her new role, Sue says "I'm very much looking forward to taking up the role of the DWQR. The UK has exceptionally good drinking water quality and Scotland specifically has made significant improvements in recent years with 2010 results the best ever achieved. My challenge is to ensure that Scotland's drinking water quality continues to improve and is recognised as world class."

Sue's appointment follows the sad death of the previous regulator, Colin McLaren at the end of November last year.
