Undertakings
Scottish Water may give an Undertaking to Scottish Ministers under Section 76E of the Water (Scotland) Act 1980 to carry out specified work to resolve a recurring water quality failure by a particular date. Progress to deliver the work specified in the Undertaking is tracked by DWQR. A failure by Scottish Water to comply with the terms of the Undertaking, without prior agreement, could result in Enforcement or legal action.

Description: This Undertaking is in respect of failures of the pesticide standard due to the inability of the exisiting treatment works to remove traces of pesticide from the raw water. The failures are of no health significance, but Scottish Water is required to manage the situation through working with land users in the catchment and construction of additional treatment processes.

Description: Work to resolve manganese failures that are causing discoloured supplies. The work will involve a combination of modifying the treatment process, cleansing and rehabilitation of water mains and service reservoirs and ultimately supplying the area from an alternative source.
